A day of inspiration

Wow. Today has been one of my favorite days ever at my school. We are starting this thing called Rachel's Challenge, and it's about one of the girls who died in the columbine shooting and what she wanted to change in the world. She challenged people to basically make kindness cool. She wanted people to reach out to others and be yourself and do whats right. We had this AMAZING assembly that really put things into perspective for me, and I would bet a lot of kids at our school. And because I'm in link crew, i went to this training about it after school. We learned about how we can make a difference at our school and how to make it keep going, even after people forget about it. I really feel like our school can do this! I know that if we do, we can make such a big difference in so many people's lives! I will admit, when I first came into this, I was very skeptical about whether our school would actually do it. But today at our assembly, I felt this overwhelming feeling that everyone was REALLY listening to this, and that they wanted to do it! So to anyone at my school who is reading this, I want to challenge you to really take this challenge into consideration. When you think about how you could positively change someone's life, I hope you are motivated to do this. Even if its as small as opening a door for someone, or just smiling at someone who looks like they are having a hard time, or learning someone's name and making it a point to go out of your way to welcome them. It's days like these that really put my daily actions into perspective. As I think of times when I excluded someone just because everyone else was, or when I didn't bother to get to know someone just because they were different than me. I feel so motivated to make a change in my life. To stop thinking about myself and actually consider others. So I'm going to do it! Everyone who reads this can hold me to it, because I honestly believe it will improve lives for the better.
